2001 – Outreach in Hoodi by few believers in Indiranagar Methodist Church (IMC)

In 2001, a group of committed people along with the then Senior Pastor Rev. Peter Francis from Indiranagar Methodist Church started visiting Hoodi as an outreach ministry of Indiranagar Methodist Church, realizing it was a fast developing area with many people moving in. A small home-based Bible study was started and shortly thereafter a Sunday School for children was also started at a local school in Hoodi.

2003 – Start of evening Service

In 2003, evening services were started in the same school. Rev. David Livingstone, the then assistant pastor of Indiranagar Methodist Church, helped in conducting the services. Later in the same year, Rev. Ramesh Christopher was appointed as pastor and formal Sunday worship service was started at 3:30 in the afternoon. Realizing the potential for more people to attend if the worship service was in the morning, this was changed to 7.00 a.m. service. This has seen an increase in the number of people coming to the service.

2006 – Purchase of land in Bethel Nagar

With much prayer, planning, support and encouragement from Rev. Panneer Williams, a piece of land was purchased at Bethel Nagar near Hoodi in 2006 with the vision to build a church.

2007 – Start of English home-based Bible study and ground-breaking

An English home-based Bible study was started during April 2007 with a view to facilitate a future English congregation. In May 2007, the ground breaking for building the church was presided by the then Bishop Dr.Sampath Kumar and a dedicated team from Indiranagar Methodist Church toiled to see the church built in 7 months. Indiranagar Nagar Methodist Church congregation played a key rols in this project by their support, prayer,giving and involvement.

By God’s grace, Bethel Methodist Church (first Phase) was dedicated on 14th Dec 2007 at 6 pm by Bishop.Dr.Taranath Sagar, Resident and Presiding Bishop of South India Regional Conference & Madras Regional Conference, in the presence of Senior Pastor of Indiranagar Methodist Church, Rev. Moses Mamdapur.

2008 – Start of English Service

By God’s grace, an English service was started on 13th Jan 2008.

2011 – New building

Four more floors were built to the existing building and the church services shifted from the ground floor to 1st floor with a seating capacity of 200 people.
